Questions, Answered.
Everything people ask before their first drip, grouped so you can skip to the part you care about. Anything we haven't covered, call 0421 312 130 for health advice.
BEFORE
Before your session.
-
An IV infusion delivers fluids and selected nutrients directly into a vein. At Haven IV Infusions, treatments are individually assessed and tailored according to your health, needs and suitability.
-
IV infusions are not suitable for everyone. Before treatment, you will complete a health questionnaire and undergo a clinical assessment to determine whether an infusion is appropriate for you.
-
Yes. Every client is clinically assessed before treatment. Where medical authorisation is required for a particular treatment or ingredient, this must be obtained before it can be administered.
-
Yes, we recommend having something to eat beforehand and arriving well hydrated.
-
If you have recent pathology results that may be relevant to your treatment, these can be useful for your clinical assessment.
-
Not necessarily. Whether pathology is recommended depends on the treatment being considered, your medical history and your individual circumstances. Certain treatments may require recent pathology or additional medical assessment, such as vitamin D and high doses of vitamin C.
-
Absolutely. We encourage you to ask questions before your appointment. If you are unsure which treatment may be appropriate for you, contact Haven IV Infusions and we will guide you through the process.
DURING
During your session.
-
Most appointments take approximately 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the infusion selected and your individual circumstances. We recommend allowing additional time for your first consultation and preparation.
-
You may feel a brief pinch or sting when the cannula is inserted. Once the cannula is in place, most people find the infusion comfortable. Our experienced nurses take care to make the process as comfortable as possible.
-
Our treatments are selected based on clinical suitability rather than simply choosing individual ingredients. Your nurse will discuss the available options with you and determine what is appropriate for your circumstances.
-
Tell your nurse immediately. Your infusion can be paused or stopped and you will be assessed. Your safety is always our priority.
AFTER
After your session.
-
Everyone responds differently. Some people may notice no immediate change, while others may notice how they feel over the following hours or days. Individual experiences vary and results cannot be guaranteed.
-
As with any medical procedure, IV therapy can have potential risks or side effects. These may include bruising, tenderness or irritation around the cannula site, light-headedness, nausea or other reactions depending on the ingredients administered. Your nurse will discuss relevant risks with you before treatment.
-
We recommend taking it easy immediately after your appointment and listening to your body. Your nurse can provide individual aftercare advice based on your treatment.
-
Most clients can drive following an infusion if they feel well. However, if you experience dizziness, light-headedness or feel unwell, you should not drive until you have fully recovered.
OTHERS
Suitability and Safety.
-
No. IV therapy may not be appropriate for people with certain medical conditions, allergies, medication interactions or other risk factors. This is why every appointment begins with an individual clinical assessment.
-
Possibly. It depends on your medications, medical history and the specific infusion. Please provide complete and accurate information during your health assessment so we can determine whether treatment is appropriate.
-
Please let us know if you are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding. Some treatments may not be appropriate, and additional medical advice may be required.
-
No. IV infusions do not replace appropriate medical diagnosis, treatment or advice from your GP or other healthcare professional. If you have a medical concern, please speak with your healthcare provider.
